Gender Identification:
Behavior is the clearest and easiest way to determine gender among Bronze Winged Mannikins.
Males will do a courtship dance bobbing up and down on the perch and their own little repetitive song, females do not. Females do have their own distinctive cheep pattern but once you have identified a male's true mating song - you would not mistake a female's call or response for the same. Feathering differences are very hard to distinguish unless the birds have been bred with some other variety of compatible species.
